“Triptych” explores the relationship between geometric order and organic transformation. The work consists of three carved maple panels whose forms are determined through the interaction of a linear grid and dynamically flowing curves. Rather than depicting a specific landscape or natural phenomenon, the forms suggest processes of movement, erosion and impermanence.
The carved surfaces interrupt and distort the underlying rhythm of the vertical lines, creating a tension between structure and fluidity, control and emergence. Through this interplay, the work investigates how forces and transformations can become visible in material form.
Made from locally sourced maple wood, “Triptych” was carved through a hands-on process using traditional woodworking techniques along with modern tools. The work reflects an ongoing interest in the dialogue between material, process and perception, where form is understood not as a fixed outline but as the trace of an evolving relationship between maker, material and gesture.
