About

Gabriel Tarmassi works across sculpture, object and spatial practice, exploring the relationship between material, form and physical perception. His work is driven by an interest in how forces, tensions and processes of transformation can be made visible through form.

Working primarily in wood and other tactile materials, Gabriel Tarmassi approaches making as both an intuitive and investigative process. Craftsmanship, construction techniques and direct engagement with the material are central to his practice. Rather than treating materials as passive matter, he explores their presence, resistance and potential to suggest bodily or organic qualities.

His works often move between sculptural and functional associations, combining geometric volumes and reduced composition with dynamic, responsive forms. They interpret states of balance, contact and compression through spatial relation. Through this process, Gabriel Tarmassi creates objects and situations that invite an awareness of material, body and space.
