The sculptural wallpiece „Triptych“ wants to explore the relation between nature and culture. In western mainstream dialectic nature and culture are perceived to be in opposition to each other. However, both are inseparably intertwined, as culture would not be possible without the underlying fundament of nature, but is nested into it. By interpreting natural shapes such as landscapes, dunes and waves, the piece reflects the surroundings that have shaped our consciousness over a long period of evolutionary processes. The vertical lines form a grid that interacts with the organic, highly dynamic structure, suggesting the association with topographic renderings. The work consists of three panels of locally sourced maple wood that are carved in a hands-on process applying ancient woodworking tools and skills.
