"Cabinet for a dreamer" is a wall cabinet that explores a sculptural approach to furniture design. There are no signs of functionality visible from the outside, so that the work has a purely sculptural appearance. The door panels are sculpted from cherry wood and then refined with traditional hand tools to achieve smooth flowing surfaces. The minimalistic shelf design nested within the corpus stands in contrast to the organic appearance of the work by echoeing cubistic architecture.
The formal language of the piece evokes associations with natural structures such as landscapes, dunes or waves. By appliying that language to a functional piece of furniture the work wants to explore the relationship between the natural and the cultural realm.
